How Thermocatalytic Reduction Works

The smoke purifier automatically synchronizes with your coffee roaster model and the parameters in the app during roasting. The smoke is directed into the unit, where it is heated to high temperatures (over 300°C). A catalyst chemically breaks down smoke particles, carbon monoxide, and odor compounds into harmless molecules such as water and CO₂. The result? Clean air without ozone or extensive maintenance – while air pressure is kept stable to preserve flavor and aroma.

This synchronization ensures balanced air pressure, which is crucial for a good roasting result. Both underpressure and overpressure in air pressure can negatively affect roasting, e.g., during long manual exhaust or ventilation that risks imbalance. 

A small catalyst filter is located at the air intake and must be cleaned after every 3-5 batches to prevent clogging from smoke residues and particles. The filter is the only part requiring regular cleaning and is very easy to remove and wash. After about 2 years, the primary catalyst must be replaced to maintain optimal performance – a new catalyst costs between 1500-2000 DKK including VAT.
